Global Health: The NHS and the world, careers of the future

Mr Peter Lees (Medical Director and Director of Leadership, NHS South Central) looks at the ways in which the NHS could become more involved in global health and in turn, how it can benefit the NHS and its employees.
This lecture was filmed at an event called: 'Engaging in global health: Controversies and solutions'.
RSM Event Description:
"The challenges of global health often seem to defy our best efforts to solve them. We know they cannot be solved within a purely medical model - issues of poverty, of education and of governance are often more important than medicine as such. The global community has shown some determination to improve the health of the poorest in the developing world, with staging posts along the way such as Alma Ata, the Millennium Goals and, here in the UK, the Crisp Report.
Many professionals from the health sector would like to engage in some way, but often wonder whether past efforts have been effective. Has aid sometimes been misdirected? If so, what sorts of interventions work and why? What is cost effective? Where is the evidence? What should I do?"
