Learning Outcomes for this Video
* To discuss the nature of cancer pain and identify differences with non-malignant pain
* To explore new animal data that suggest mechanisms of cancer pan that could lead to novel treatments
* To examine current status on new treatments for cancer pain
Although cancer pain and non-malignant pain share much of the pain neuroanatomy and mediators, evidence suggests that there are important differences between these pains. Exploitation of these differences could potentially lead to the development of novel treatments for specific types of cancer pain. Some of these strategies are being investigated in human studies.
